Exodus Haute Route Trek July 2003

Day 10 Evolene

Leisurely breakfast and then walked down to Evolene by the river. Picture postcard Swiss village with some wonderful old wooden houses and barns behind the main street. Quite busy. Great meal with Sixto, Bruce, Clive and Adrian. Bought a few supplies in an old fashioned shop and got caught in a downpour on the way back. A Dutch family gave us a lift back.

Walked up to Les Haudères with Bruce just before dinner and found even more fantastic wooden buildings but the light was too bad for photographs. Good meal in the camp restaurant. To bed with lots of whisky to ease an aching left leg.

Exodus Trip Notes

Day 10 A static day. Most people will be happy to spend the day just relaxing and enjoying the mountain air. The twin villages of Les Haudères and Evolene lie in the most picturesque part of the Val de Herens and there are many day walks in the area.

Campsite near Les Haudères.
